12 Easy Tricks That'll Help You Drink More Water Every Day!

The importance of keeping yourself hydrated throughout the day cannot be stated enough. Water plays a major role in keeping our bodies functioning properly – even more so than we assume. Considering the human body is mostly made of water (up to 60%), it should not come as a surprise. The daily water requirement for an average person varies, but it’s estimated to be about 3 litres for an adult man and slightly less for an adult woman.
But a majority of us don’t measure our water intake and many drinks only when we are thirsty. This leads to a shortage of water consumption, which is not good for our health. Even if you decide to drink enough water every day, achieving that goal gets difficult. However, you can take certain steps to ensure you drink the right amount of water every day by following certain easy steps.
1. Invest in a good purifier
You should know that modern water purifiers do a lot more than just purify your water. They also enhance the taste of the water you drink. You could be drinking less water at present because you don’t like how the water from your tap tastes. A good RO water purifier will solve this problem for you by adding essential minerals to your water and by removing dissolved salts, making it pleasant to taste.
2. Keep a water bottle by your side
If you drink less water because you simply can’t remember to do so, then keeping a bottle or jar of water nearby will help. For example, if you have a desk job, keep a water bottle on your desk at all times. This will also help if you’re too lazy to walk to a water dispenser to fill a cup of water.

3. Establish a routine
This could be something like drinking a certain amount of water every hour or drinking water before or after food. You could also make a habit of drinking water every time you visit the toilet.
4. Use a marked water bottle
Water bottles with clear markings will help you realize how much water you’ve consumed and how you need to drink in a day. If you add time markers on your bottle, it’ll help you drink water at the right time intervals as well.

5. Use a smartphone app to track your water intake
Install one of the many available mobile applications on your smartphone and rely on it to help you maintain your daily water intake. Apps can prompt you at regular intervals to take a swig. They can also tell you how much water to drink.
6. Drink with a buddy
Achieving any goal becomes easier when you have a partner. You can team up with your spouse, a friend, a colleague or anyone you’re close to and spend a lot of time with. You can keep each other encroached and ensure both of you achieve a set goal.

7. Flavour your water
Do you find drinking water plain? Jazz it up by adding natural flavours to it. You can try adding lemon or orange zest to the water you drink, which will give it a refreshing citrus flavour. Mint, basil, spinach, cinnamon, vanilla bean, sage, and lemongrass are other readily available substances that you can add to your drinking water to give it distinct flavours.

8. Replace sugary drinks with water
If drinking soft drinks or sugary fruit juice is your way of consuming water, then change your habit immediately. Try to quit drinking soft drinks and turn to water instead (zero-calorie drinks are not an option either). Fruit juice is fine as long as you don’t add sugar or add very little.
9. Drink water with your alcohol
There are two ways to do this. One, if you mix soft drinks with your alcohol, replace it with fizzy water or plain water because it’s a healthier option. Two, alternate between drinking alcohol and water; this will keep you hydrated and reduce the amount of alcohol you consume.
10. Eat food high in water content
If you find it difficult to drink water, you can eat it! Consume fruits like watermelons, strawberries, cantaloupes, spinach, iceberg lettuce, cucumber, and oranges, all of which are rich in water.

11. Play drinking games
You know what drinking games are. Only here, replace the alcohol with water. You could also establish some everyday house rules, which if you don’t follow, should be followed by a glass of water. This makes drinking water seem interesting rather than a chore.
12. Make it a habit
Ultimately, it’s all about making the task of drinking water a habit. Once it’s ingrained, you won’t have to make a conscious effort to drink water. And neither will you feel full after drinking because by now your body should be used to your increased water intake.
