Considering how essential water is to life, it makes sense that we would want to provide the best water for our families. Filtering your water is an effective way to ensure your water tastes good and is safe to drink.

The Importance of Filtered Water

All water is not created equal. Since water is a natural solvent, it often contains more than just water. Minerals, chemicals, bacteria and viruses can all make their way into the water supply. Your local municipality follows strict regulations when treating your water, but traces of contaminants may still be in your water by the time it reaches your home. Water filtration is the best defense against harmful contaminants including chlorine, lead, bacteria and pesticides. In addition to making water safer, filtering can improve the taste, color and odor of your water.

Different Types of Filtration Systems

There are several options when it comes to purchasing a water filtration system. You can get a basic pitcher filter, whole house water filter, or an under sink option – there is something for every need and budget.
Pitcher filters typically use carbon filtration to remove contaminants like chlorine, mercury and lead. These make an inexpensive, convenient filter that is easily stored in the refrigerator.
For a more sophisticated option, an under sink water filter is directly attached to your plumbing. An under sink option is great if your municipal water source doesn’t contain high levels of chlorine. For homes that have high levels of chlorine, a whole house water filter is the best option. Chlorine in your water can cause your skin to dry out and can be inhaled while you shower.
whole house water filtration system provides clean water throughout your home, rather than treating the water from a single faucet. This type of filter ensures any water used in your house has been treated, whether it’s from a faucet in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry. A high performance water filtration system will remove 97% of chlorine and reduce other harmful contaminants commonly found in tap water.

Filtered Water Is Better for the Environment

The amount of oil used to make plastic bottles can fill over a million cars in one year. The majority of those plastic bottles will eventually end up in landfills, polluting the planet even more. Refillable water bottles can eliminate the amount of plastic put into the earth.
