Dangers of Plastic Water Bottles

Plastic has revolutionized the way we live in our society as a whole and the entire globe as well. It is a billion dollar industry with a variety of uses. Plastics are used in all sorts of ways that help us in our daily lives. Perhaps the one of the most innovative uses for plastics is the water bottle. There was a time in our country that no one would ever dream that they would buy water in a bottle when the city provided you free water from your faucets.
The bottled water industry has proven itself to be a very profitable industry.  Consumers feel they can no longer trust or believe local or federal governments are providing safe drinking water. That is not the case. There are even advantages of having bottled water.

ADVANTAGES OF BOTTLED WATER
  • Bottled water can be transported to remote areas and provide safe drinking water to those who need it.
  • Many bottled water companies send clean drinking water to disaster areas in an effort to provide relief efforts.
  • Bottled water is also transported to stores across the country to sell in the marketplace as well.
However, the disadvantages of bottled water far outweigh the advantages.

DISADVANTAGES OF BOTTLED WATER
  • Plastic a petroleum based product which uses up limited resources of our oil reserves, but the diesel (another petroleum based product) involved to transport the bottled water to reach the desired destinations.
  • Fossil fuels are not sustainable.
  • This results in higher fuel costs which increases the use of limited oil resources.
  • Some water bottles contain toxins such as BPA especially if they are exposed to heat (such as in a storeroom waiting to go on the shelves)
  • Not all plastic bottles end up in proper receptacles.  They pollute our lands, our waters and our food chain.
LIVING CLEANER AND GREENER
With so many people around the globe turning toward a greener and cleaner way of life, one solution to this problem can be to filter (again) the water already provided by the city to your home. City water contains chlorine that kills microbial bacteria in raw water. Chlorine is a necessary evil in water filtration because it is what makes raw water safe to drink.
However, the disadvantage  of having chlorine in our city treated water is that it just does not taste very good.  In fact, too much consumption of city treated water can give you stomach discomfort. Even though there are no known health risks to drinking chlorinated water.

IS YOUR CITY WATER SAFE TO DRINK?
Yes.  You will never hear us say that your city treated water is unsafe to drink. This is not about scare tactics to sell our drinking water filters. This is about clean tasting water, and saving money and while we’re at it, saving the environment.

TRY A WATER FILTER INSTEAD OF BOTTLED WATER
Our water filters will greatly reduce the taste of chlorine other contaminants which leave a bad taste in your drinking water.  We use a special media in conjunction with granular activated carbon, which reduces/removes the taste of chlorine, bad taste and odors in your water.
3-year-chartHere are a few types of water filters.
They are easy to install and last for 3 years before being replaced.
Whether you decide to use a water filter for only a portion of your home or your entire home, be certain that the same great taste will last as long as you have your filter.

If you’re tired of wasting money on bottled water and have strong concerns about its impact on the environment, consider a water filtration system.
